Arsenal have been stunned by the news that Gabriel Jesus could miss three months of action due to a knee injury suffered at the World Cup.

The Brazil international has undergone surgery to his right knee after suffering damage in his country’s 1-0 defeat to Cameroon at the Group Stage in Qatar.

It is a huge blow for Jesus – as well as Mikel Arteta – although a rumour emerging from Brazil suggests Edu is already hunting for the next Gabriel Jesus.

Well, Jesus rose through the ranks at Palmeiras, scoring 21 goals in 52 appearances before sealing a £27m move to Manchester City in 2016.

Arsenal ended up paying £45m to lure the South American away from Pep Guardiola, but now, the Gunners have gone straight to the source of Jesus’ talent by making contact with Palmeiras over a deal for Estevao.

According to Goal, the 15-year-old has been the subject of an enquiry from Arsenal, with Barcelona also getting in touch with the Brazilian giants over a deal for the teenage sensation.

PSG are also interested, and are believed to have already seen a bid rejected for Estevao.

By the sounds of it, Arsenal are not content with just having the original Gabriel Jesus, and are keen to sign the heir to his throne as well.

ARSENAL HAVE GOOD CHANCE OF SIGNING GABRIEL JESUS 2.0

Arsenal fans may doubt their chances of signing Estevao with Barcelona and PSG also fighting for his signature.

However, Edu has strong connections in Brazilian football, which helped him unearth a diamond in Gabriel Martinelli, who was playing for Ituano in Série D – Brazil’s equivalent of League Two – when Arsenal signed him.

Edu also pulled some strings to sign Marquinhos ahead of Wolves, so in our view, the Gunners have a good chance of winning the race to sign Estevao.
