Arsenal, according to reports, has opted to focus their efforts in the summer transfer window on signing three midfield players.

Despite Roma’s interest, Granit Xhaka chose to stay at Arsenal. This is because, during the previous season, Mikel Arteta placed a lot of faith in Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka as his first-choice duo.

Albert Sambi Lokonga spent the most of his debut season with North London on the bench. This was owing to Mohamed Elneny’s return to the starting lineup towards the end of the season, when Thomas Partey was injured.

Elneny’s impressive form earned him a fresh one-year deal after he was about to become a free agent at the end of the month; nevertheless, the Gunners should still be looking for midfield reinforcements after failing to qualify for the Champions League. Elneny’s outstanding performance earned him a one-year contract extension.

Lucas Torreira and Ainsley Maitland-Niles might follow Matteo Guendouzi out of Arsenal, with Guendouzi’s current loan agreement with Marseille having the potential to become permanent.

Arsenal have allegedly identified three engine room targets during the summer transfer season, according to Goal reporter Charles Watts. Youri Tielemans, a Leicester City player, is the first of these objectives.

The 25-year-old is in the last 18 months of his current contract with King Power, which has fueled speculation of a bargain-basement switch. The player’s contract with King Power is coming to an end.

Tielemans is thought to be able to leave Leicester for as little as £25 million after three and a half years with the club, during which time he has scored 24 goals and assisted on another 24 in 158 games.

The Belgium international won one FA Cup and one Community Shield during his tenure with the Foxes. Despite the fact that Arsenal did not finish in the top four of the Premier League last season, he is said to be open to a transfer to the Emirates. He also won one Community Shield during his tenure with the Foxes.

After Arteta’s time working with the Ukraine international at the Etihad Stadium, Watts adds that Manchester City left back Oleksandr Zinchenko has also been mentioned as a significant target. During Arteta’s tenure at Manchester City, Zinchenko was a teammate of Arteta’s.

In Ukraine’s recent World Cup 2022 Qualifying playoff semi-final triumph against Scotland, Zinchenko shone.
For City, Zinchenko usually plays left defence, but for Ukraine, he regularly takes the initiative and controls play from the middle. In this match, Zinchenko shone.

However, the 25-year-old only appeared in 10 Premier League games last season, and his current contract with the Premier League champions is slated to expire in the summer of 2024.

Finally, rumours suggest that Arsenal is still interested in buying Wolverhampton Wanderers star player Ruben Neves, despite the Molineux club’s apparent acceptance of the player’s departure.

However, the Portugal international is attracting interest from Manchester United and Barcelona, and he has enraged Arsenal fans with comments he made about the Gunners’ celebrations after their 1-0 victory against Wolves at Molineux in February.

Neves scored four goals and added two assists for Bruno Lage’s club in the 2021-22 Premier League season.
In two years, the 25-year-old forward’s current contract will expire, and he will be free.
