Mikel Arteta and Arsenal, according to The Sun, are in the driver’s seat in their pursuit of Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar.
Arsenal is apparently mulling a bid to sign Aouar from Lyon during the next summer transfer window, according to a report in a British tabloid.
Real Betis and Real Sociedad, according to RMC Sport, are both interested in signing the France international midfielder. Real Madrid is interested in acquiring him as well.
Would Houssem Aouar make Arsenal better?
Arsenal should make an attempt to sign Houssem Aouar during the summer transfer window, but only if the asking price is reasonable.
Arsenal should just pull out of any potential deal with Lyon if Lyon asks an outrageous transfer fee for the midfielder.
The France international is currently 23 years old, indicating that he would be a great fit for Mikel Arteta’s young and dynamic Arsenal squad.
In a November 2018 interview with BBC Sport, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola described Aouar as “fantastic.” Arsenal would benefit from Aouar’s European expertise in their quest to make an imprint in the Europa League next season.
Aouar made 32 appearances for Lyon in Ligue 1, with 29 starts and seven substitute appearances.
Lyon’s number eight scored six goals and added four assists in seven games.
In addition, the French midfielder has two goals in nine Europa League appearances this season.
