Hector Bellerin will return to Arsenal this summer, Real Betis’ president said. The 27-year-old has excelled for La Liga, prompting rumours of a permanent move.
The right-back made 23 league matches and assisted twice under Manuel Pellegrini. The Spaniard’s contract expires in 2023, and Cedric Soares and Takehiro Tomiyasu are the current options on his side.
Mikel Arteta said he is already preparing around Bellerin for next season: “Any player having a contractual responsibility with us is our player.” Every strategy involves [Bellerin staying] and how they integrate within our team.
The Gunners manager has a busy summer ahead of him as he looks to bolster his team. Bellerin’s return might help North London’s depth.
Betis president Angel Haro acknowledged this. “Hector is a fanatical player and a terrific guy,” he told Goal. We had him on loan from Arsenal; he’s returning, and we’ll see.
“He’s tremendously into Betis since his parents are followers. We’ll hopefully meet again. A comeback is uncertain.
Should he return to the Emirates, he would be competing with Cedric and Tomiyasu for the job. Given his recent bad form and injuries, he may have a chance.
