According to Football.London, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said that he instructed his players to forget about the Tottenham Hotspur match immediately after the team’s 2-1 loss at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
In the North London derby that took place on Thursday evening, Arteta’s Arsenal team was defeated by Tottenham by a score of 3-0.
During the Premier League match, Spurs players Harry Kane and Son Heung-min each scored a goal for their team. Son Heung-min also struck the back of the net once.
Football.London quotes Arteta as saying: “I said in the dressing room this game is history for us. Now it’s Newcastle. That’s gone.”
BBC Sport quotes the Arsenal boss as saying: “This game is history and all our focus is Newcastle, Newcastle, Newcastle.
“I told them I was so proud of them and if we do what we did in the first half an hour here we will be fine against Newcastle.”
BOUNCING BACK
After suffering a loss to Tottenham in the North London derby, Arsenal will have to demonstrate their capabilities if they want to regain their footing after the setback.
Arsenal maintain a one-point advantage over Tottenham in the Premier League’s fourth division.
This season has two more rounds of matches that are still to take place.
The fate of Arsenal is entirely in their own hands.
The Gunners’ next Premier League match will be played away from their stadium at St. James’ Park against Newcastle United. After that, they will host Everton at the Emirates Stadium.
Although the Magpies have nothing to play for, they will not be an easy club to beat because of their strong defence.
Everton, led by Frank Lampard and looking to escape the dreaded drop to the Championship, will make life extremely difficult for Arsenal even in front of Arsenal’s own supporters. Everton’s goal is to stay in the Premier League.
