According to the Manchester Evening News, many clubs, including Arsenal, are interested in signing Ruben Neves.
Wolves are interested in signing Neves, who is expected to leave the club this summer.
The Portuguese midfielder has been the main centre of Wolves’ midfield for many seasons, but he seems to be ready to take the next step in his development and join a really elite club.
Barcelona has lately been linked to the role, but the MEN reports that Arsenal is also interested.
Unfortunately for Arsenal, Neves’ representatives are more interested in signing with another Premier League side, Manchester United, than with their own.
Of course, Neves is represented by Jorge Mendes, and considering Mendes’ strong ties to Manchester United after Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford, it seems that the super-agent is on his way to performing another favour for the Red Devils.
It is not always simple to finalise transfers, and with Arsenal leading Manchester United in the race for a Champions League slot, the Gunners may have a chance to sign the Wolves player if they can grab the last Champions League spot.
Neves has previously participated in the Champions League on two occasions. He may opt to join a club that will compete in UEFA’s primary competition the following season after leading Porto to the tournament when he was just 18 and spending the previous five seasons away from Europe’s top-flight with Wolves.
Neves would be a terrific addition to Arsenal’s team if he joins the club. Former Arsenal midfielder ‘Sensational’ has already been called as such, and he may be a great addition to the team.
He will not, however, be available for a bargain. Neves was once valued at £100 million, and although he is unlikely to attract that kind of money this summer, it is impossible to see Wolves selling him for anything close to what would be called a bargain.
