Arsenal reportedly remain interested in a move for Edmond Tapsoba.
The Bayer Leverkusen has been linked with a move to North London during the summer transfer window.
Earlier this summer, Italian publication Tutto Mercato Web reported that Arsenal were close to signing the Burkina Faso defender.
But with the Emirates Stadium club on the brink of signing Ben White in a £50 million deal, it would appear as if they have lost interest in Tapsoba.
However, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that isn’t necessarily the case.
Romano has claimed that Arsenal still ‘love’ the 22-year-old powerhouse and will continue to monitor the situation.
He told his Here We Go podcast: “They will continue keeping tabs on Tapsoba of Bayer Leverkusen. It is a player they love, but they decided to go for Ben White.”
WILL ARSENAL SIGN BOTH?
In a word, nope.
According to BILD, Leverkusen would be looking for around £70 million for the player.
And there’s just no chance in hell that Arsenal are going to spend £120 million on two central defenders, including White.
Lord knows that Mikel Arteta and Edu need all the defensive solidity that they can get.
But the Gunners still badly need attacking players, having struggled for goals for most of last season.
And committing another £70 million to another defender is just not going to happen – well, not this summer, anyway.
