Peter O’Rourke has told the The Football Terrace that Ben White has told his England teammates he will be joining Arsenal this summer.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with White, with the club said to have made a third offer for him in the past few days.
However, interest from Everton and Chelsea has complicated matters for Arsenal.
The Gunners are still yet to reach an official agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion for the 23-year-old.
But it seems that White, who was labelled ‘brilliant’ by Jordan Pickford recently (Official England Podcast), now knows where his future lies.
“Ben White really wants this move even though there was a bit of late interest from Everton,” O’Rourke said.
“The defender has his heart set on a move to the Emirates. I know from speaking to a few people, he’s been telling some of his England teammates that the deal is pretty much done and he expects to be an Arsenal player at the start of next season.”
An anxious wait
Arsenal fans are likely to have to wait until the end of Euro 2020 until any transfer is confirmed.
White will be part of the England squad who take on Italy in the final on Sunday.
Arsenal fans have not actually been able to see White on the international stage, as he has not featured for Gareth Southgate’s men yet.
However, Mikel Arteta clearly has seen enough in him to suggest he has an extremely bright future.
White will become one of Arsenal’s most expensive signings ever when if he does sign, and that surely suggests that he will walk straight into their starting line-up.
