Speaking on the EyeToEye Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has made a claim about Manuel Locatelli and Arsenal’s interest in the Italian.
It’s no secret that Arsenal want the 23-year-old this summer, with Sassuolo’s chairman even going as far as to claim that the Gunners have made a formal approach for the midfielder.
Romano says that Arsenal are huge fans of Locatelli, going as far as to claim that they think he’d be perfect for the Premier League.
WHAT’S BEEN SAID?
Romano was discussing the Sassuolo CEO’s comments about Locatelli and Arsenal.
“I think they don’t need to drive the price up, because the player is showing his skills so if they want to ask for 50 or 60 million Euros instead of 40, they can do it, because Locatelli is amazing,” Romano said.
“It’s true that Arsenal have an interest in Locatelli. They know that Locatelli is perfect for the Premier League and I personally agree. In general for Premier League clubs because he is perfect to play in England with his style, his mentality and his skills, but it’s also true that Arsenal know the player’s priority is to join Juventus.”
Serie A signings can be very hit and miss in the Premier League, but Arsenal are seemingly convinced that he’ll be perfect in the English top-flight.
To be fair, Locatelli does look like the real deal and with Granit Xhaka seemingly on his way out of the Emirates, the Italian could be the perfect signing for Arsenal this summer.
Sadly, as Romano says, the player’s priority is to join Juventus, and if the Old Lady come calling, it’s hard for any player to turn them down.
Hopefully, Arsenal can find a way to get this one over the line.
