Arsenal appear to have swiftly moved on from Emi Buendia after missing out on the Norwich City star.
Buendia was a long-term target of the Gunners ‘, but it was Aston Villa who got over the line first, agreeing a club-record deal believed to be £34million plus add-ons that could take the deal up to £40million.
It is a real blow for Arsenal, who are said to have matched Villa’s offer, but the conditions of the Midlands club’s offer was believed to have been more appealing.
That meant Arsenal missed out, and they are now left searching for alternatives, with creative midfielder Martin Odegaard also potentially off the table amid a firm Real Madrid stance.
The latest reports claim Edu and Mikel Arteta could turn to Borussia Dortmund star Julian Brandt, a midfielder who has been regularly linked in the past.
Fussball Transfers report Brandt disappointed this season and he is up for sale, along with Nico Schulz, with Arsenal credited with an interest for the former.
Like Buendia, Brendt is capable of playing both as a creative midfielder and a winger, though he didn’t exactly catch the eye with only four goals and two assists in 45 appearances across all competitions.
The 25-year-old did, however, feature regularly with 31 Bundesliga appearances as Borussia Dortmund secured Champions League football for next season with a third-place finish.
Brandt has been with Dortmund since 2019 when he joined from Bayer Leverkusen on a deal worth £21.4million, but his time at Westfalenstadion could now be set to come to an end.
Arsenal are said to want to do their business ‘quietly’ this summer, and with no other teams credited with an interest at this point, could Brandt be the perfect option to get a deal done and swiftly?
Brandt is currently under contract until 2024 and he is valued at £22.5million, meaning Dortmund are likely to make their money back on the midfielder if he does indeed move on.
