Tottenham Hotspur fell to defeat on Sunday evening as they lost 2-1 away at North London rivals Arsenal.
Spurs did take the lead as early substitute Erik Lamela pulled of an unbelievable rabona goal, but that’s about as good as it got for them.
Martin Odegaard equalised for Arsenal as Matt Doherty struggled to deal with Kieran Tierney’s surging run down the left flank, and a controversial moment handed Arsenal the win.
Alexandre Lacazette had a fresh-air swipe at the ball, but as Davinson Sanchez went in to block his shot, he inadvertently wiped out Lacazette.
From Spurs’ perspective, the only reason the block attempt was a foul was because Lacazette mis-hit his shot; from Arsenal’s, Sanchez has gone flying in and undoubtedly taken the striker down.
The penalty was given and Lacazette scored, giving Arsenal all three points whilst leaving Sanchez outraged at full time, with his foul leading to a Gunners win.
Fans suggested that the penalty decision shouldn’t overshadow an ‘unreal’ performance from the 24-year-old, feeling his was one of Tottenham’s best players.
Others called him ‘exceptional’ and ‘quality’, feeling that he has turned a corner at Tottenham despite giving away that big penalty.
Apart from the penalty (that wasn't a foul imo), Sanchez was our best player
