Mikel Arteta spoke highly of Martin Odegaard, stating the Norwegian has all it takes to be better at Arsenal.
Odegaard signed for the Gunner in the January transfer window, and made his debut start in the win against Leeds United. The young midfielder joined on loan from Real Madrid till the end of the season, which will see him earn about £100k-a-week at the North London club.
In the midfielder first ever start, he impressed, with his great link up play, and good eye for passing in the final third, which help the gunner to get back to winning ways after losing back-to-back games.
The Spanish coach had nothing but praises for the 22-year-old during his press conference revealing his leadership qualities at the club.
“He’s a really focused and humble boy that was really keen to join, but he just wants to play football in the right way and then he said some really good things,”
“He’s a really nice guy, the players like him, the staff like him, he’s easy going, a really hard worker, and I’ve been very impressed with his leadership. He looks a little bit calm but, on the pitch, he’s got something about him. I’ve been really impressed with him. It’s how he talks to his teammates and how he, for example, commands the high press.”
With the performance Odegaard displayed he will be hoping to get more playing time in the coming weeks.
