Tony Cascarino says he won’t be surprise if Arsenal finish above Tottenham Hotspurs this season.
Arsenal moved up two points within Spurs, as the defeated Leeds United 4-2 at the Emirates, on Sunday.
Jose Mourinho’s side has lost five games in six matches and has since dropped to nineth place, after sitting in first place for some couple of weeks.
The Gunners and Tottenham face later in mid-march and Cascarino believes Arsenal will finish above their London rivals.
‘There is much to admire about the team Mikel Arteta is building at Arsenal. Results are gradually improving; a style is emerging and young players such as Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka are being given a chance to impose themselves on matches. Arsenal stuck with their man, believed in his project and look like a side on the up,’ Cascarino wrote in the Times.
‘Contrast this with Tottenham Hotspur, who look devoid of both creativity and a Plan B when the going gets tough. Spurs are now only two points above their north London rivals and, although they have a game in hand, I would not be surprised if Arsenal finish ahead of them this season. Arteta’s team are going places.
‘It will be fascinating to see who comes out on top when the sides meet next month.’
