Thomas Partey has stated that Crystal Palace winger Jordan Ayew and his brother Andre told him that the Premier League is a ‘very difficult league’, as he told Arsenal’s official YouTube account.
But Arsenal’s new recruit also shared that his Ghana teammates told him that he has ‘the qualities’ to play in England’s top-flight, it’s just a case of him having to ‘work hard’.
Jordan Ayew was Crystal Palace’s Player of the Year last season, whilst his brother has played for the likes of West Ham before and last season he missed out on promotion from the Championship with Swansea.
Ahead of Partey’s potential debut against Manchester City at the weekend, he was asked what the Ayew brothers have told him about the Premier League.
Yes, they told me it’s a very difficult league,” said Partey. “But then I have the qualities to be here, so I just need to do my best and work hard.”
Even though Partey put pen-to-paper on the Arsenal contract on Deadline Day, he only linked up with his new teammates on Wednesday because he was on national duty.
Those in North London got a taste of what is to come with the combative midfielder because he provided two assists against Qatar as Ghana recorded a 5-1 win.
Given that Partey won’t have much time to train with his new teammates ahead of that City clash, it will be interesting to see if Mikel Arteta pushes him straight into the starting XI.
