According to The Guardian, Chelsea expect Willian to join Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
It has been reported that Chelsea manager Frank Lampard wants Willian to sign a new contract and stay at the club.
The Brazil international, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, is out of contract at the Blues at the end of the season.
However, the 31-year-old wants a three-year deal, which Chelsea are unwilling to commit to, according to the report
It has been reported that Willian’s hopes of a three-year contract at the Blues ‘look slim’, and that ‘there is an expectation that he could end up joining Arsenal on a free.’
TEAMtalk reported in April of Arsenal’s interest in signing the 31-year-old on a free transfer this summer.
Wilian made 29 starts and seven substitute appearances in the Premier League for Chelsea this season, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
The Brazilian also made six starts and one substitute appearance in the Champions League for the Blues this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.
Good signing for Arsenal?
Described as “world class” by former Arsenal star Paul Merson on Skysports.com in April 2020, Willian is one of the best attacking players in the Premier League, and he would be a brilliant signing for the Gunners on a free transfer and would make the North London outfit a very potent force.
