Arsenal’s hopes of signing Dani Ceballos permanently have been boosted with Real Madrid prepared to cash-in on the on-loan midfielder this summer, according to reports in Spain.
Ceballos endured a difficult time at the Emirates when Mikel Arteta first took over at the club, with his compatriot’s arrival coinciding with a serious injury, and he had to wait until February to make his first appearance.
Since then, though, he has started the last 10 Premier League matches and has become one of the first names on Arteta’s team sheets, delivering a number of excellent performances.
Arsenal have been very happy with the partnership Ceballos has developed alongside Granit Xhaka and would like to turn the 23-year-old’s loan into a permanent deal.
However, Arsenal did not negotiate a purchase option when they loaned Ceballos last summer and it has been suggested that Zinedine Zidane could welcome the midfielder back into his squad for next season – particularly if transfer funds are limited due to the coronavirus crisis.
Now Spanish newspaper Marca report that Real are willing to let Ceballos leave if they receive both the green light from Zidane and a significant sum.
Ceballos remains highly rated by those at Real and has other suitors beyond Arsenal, with both Valencia and Real Betis reaching out to his camp. The Liga leaders know they have a strong bargaining position and will not let him leave on the cheap, setting an asking price of €25million (£22.6m).

Real want to raise significant funds so they can invest in the squad this summer, with Achraf Akimi already sold to Inter Milan and Ceballos and defender Jesus Vallejo the next two players likely to be offloaded.
Ceballos was questioning his Arsenal future in the winter while sidelined, but is now thriving under Arteta and recently declared that the Gunners are ‘his team’, with a permanently stay in north London appearing to be his preference over a return to Spain.
