Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s Arsenal future has once again been a hot topic, and he has a message surrounding all the rumours.
The first day in June began with reports to get Gunners supporters excited.
According to a report by French publication L’Equipe, the Gabon international, who is out of contract at the Emirates Stadium at the end of next season, has been offered an extension.
As expected, this prompted a huge reaction from the Arsenal fanbase as it would appear that the club have learned from their past mistakes with players running down their contracts.
However, there is also some worrying news regarding this rumour.
On Monday afternoon, ESPN disputed L’Equipe’s claim that Aubameyang has been offered a contract extension, thus leaving Arsenal fans in a state of confusion.
With that said, the person at the centre of all the rumours just might have cleared everything up with a subtle message on social media.
Aubameyang uploaded a video of himself – still in his Arsenal training gear – onto his Instagram stories with a message that reads: “Don’t listen [to] ’em, listen music better.”
This could be seen as the 30-year-old directly responding to the latest rumours about his future and perhaps telling Arsenal fans not to listen to the gossip.
Head coach Mikel Arteta has stated his preference would be for Aubameyang to stay which is not a surprise given the Gunners captain’s goalscoring record since joining from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018.
“For me it is very easy,” said Arteta earlier in the season. “I want to keep him under any circumstances.
“We will see the intentions that we have and his intentions. Where we are sitting in the table at that moment. I think it is difficult to predict that context right now.”
