Arsenal in confirmed talks to sign forward as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang price tag set

The latest Arsenal news as the Gunners continue their period of self-isolation following Mikel Arteta tested positive for coronavirus.

Arsenal players are continuing their self-isolation as the coronavirus pandemic shows no sign of slowing down.

All Premier League games have been suspended until 4 April at the very least, with serious doubt remaining about whether the season can be completed.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta tested positive for the virus last week, but the Spaniard is said to be recovering well.

Hammarby director confirms Arsenal in talks to sign striker

Hammarby sporting director Jesper Jansson has confirmed that Arsenal are among a number of clubs in talks to sign teenage striker Emil Roback.

The 16-year-old forward has also attracted interest from Bayern Munich, with Jansson admitting that the Swedish club face a battle to hold onto the highly-rated teen after both sides have opened discussions.

Aubameyang price-tag

Arsenal will demand £50million from Barcelona to sell captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

That’s according to Spanish outlet Sport.

Although, Bernd Leno believes the Gabon international will remain at the Emirates.

“I’m not sure, it depends who’s going to leave and who stays. I don’t know,” he replied when asked on his eSports channel whether Arsenal will sign any players this summer

“I think it depends if Auba signs a new contract or [if] he leaves. I don’t know what they are going to do. But if he leaves, of course, you need another player.

“But I think he’s going to stay.”

Tony Adams sends message to Arsenal over Mikel Arteta

Arsenal legend Tony Adams claims that Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta must be backed in the summer transfer window.

Or risk making the same mistakes under ex-boss Unai Emery.

“He (Mikel Arteta) is doing a great job,” he told Sky Sports. “I really like the man and his enthusiasm. I am glad he is well and recovered from the virus.

“I have been speaking for the last 10 years about recruitment at the club and I think that really needs to up it’s game.

“The coach is irrelevant. (Unai) Emery was a fantastic coach but recruitment let him down.

“If you get that right then the coach has a chance.”

Ceballos transfer hint

With the entire Arsenal squad in self-isolation due to the coronavirus outbreak, on-loan midfielder Dani Ceballos took the opportunity to post a picture on Twitter from when he signed for the club in the summer.

The tweet read: ‘Good memories,’ with a heart emoji, but some fans interpreted this as a sign that the Spaniard will not be extending his stay at the Emirates beyond the end of the current campaign.

Take a look at the best responses below…

Arteta recently admitted that it took Ceballos some time to get back up to speed at Arsenal following his injury issues.

“We haven’t had any discussions about it [a permanent deal],” the Gunners boss told his press conference before the win over West Ham.

“I’m really happy with Dani and what he’s bringing to the team right now.”

UEFA issue update on Premier League season

UEFA have said that they are committed to completing all domestic and European club competitions including the Champions League and the Europa League by the end of the current season.

As well as a delay on the European competitions, domestic leagues around Europe have also been put on hold.

UEFA held an emergency meeting on Tuesday, where the decision was made to suspend the European championships for a year, with the international tournament originally due to take place during the summer.

In the resolution signed by UEFA, the European Club Association, European Leagues and FIFAPRO Europe, the organisations have agreed to conclude the competitions by June 30th at the latest should the situation improve.

The document also reveals the possible dropping of exclusive calendar slots, which could mean league games being played during midweek and European games at the weekend.

There also could be changes to the qualifying rounds of next season’s competitions should the season extend beyond June 30th, although what these changes could be are not clear.
