Arsenal are preparing for the second leg of their Europa League last-32 tie against Olympiacos.

The Gunners go into the game at the Emirates leading 1-0 on aggregate after Alexandre Lacazette’s goal in Athens.

Mikel Arteta’s side are also on a high after their 3-2 victory over Everton on Sunday, and will want to continue their unbeaten start to 2020 in all competitions.

With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Arsenal stories from the last 24 hours.

Arsenal loan round-up

Arsenal’s January loan business has been one of the highlights of the season as the club were able to send away some of their most exciting prospects to get much-needed game time.

Within the first couple of weeks Emile Smith Rowe, Tyreece John-Jules and Konstantinos Mavropanos all found their destinations until the end of the season. This was followed up by James Olayinka and more recently, Joseph Olowu.

Alongside their outgoing loans, the Gunners made the important decision of recalling Eddie Nketiah from Leeds United. Since returning, the 20-year-old has made just as many league starts as he did for Marcelo Bielsa and also scored once in the Premier League and once in the FA Cup.

According to France Football, a number of former Arsenal players have recommended Brentford winger Said Benrahma to the Gunners board.

The report claims Arsenal have been watching the Algerian closely this season, after his impressive form in the second tier.

Mikel Arteta in line to receive surprise windfall to boost summer transfer budget

AS Roma want to turn Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s loan deal into a permanent one, head coach Paulo Fonseca has confirmed.

As a result, Arsenal and Mikel Arteta could be in line to receive a surprise welcome windfall which will help to boost their transfer budget for the summer window.

The Armenia international joined the Serie A outfit last summer has had his share of injuries this season, but has performed when on the occasions when he’s been called upon.

Eddie Nketiah explains how he convinced Mikel Arteta to give him first-team chance

Eddie Nketiah believes it was his intensity in training that convinced Mikel Arteta to pull the plug on a second loan move of the season and restore the young striker to the Arsenal fold.

Nketiah spent the first half of the campaign on loan with Leeds United but was recalled by Arsenal after struggling for regular starts under Marcelo Bielsa. The intention had been to send the 20-year-old to another Championship club for the remainder of the season but Arteta changed his mind.

It is proving to be a shrewd move with Nketiah starting the last two Premier League games – as many as he started under Marcelo Bielsa in the Championship – and scoring Arsenal’s first goal in a 3-2 win over Everton on Sunday.

Speaking after the game Nketiah made clear that getting his chance at Arsenal had always been the “dream” scenario for him and left no-one in any doubt that it was his hard work on the training ground that had convinced Arteta to keep him in north London.

Ian Wright describes Bernd Leno in two words

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has praised Bernd Leno after his string of impressive saves helped Mikel Arteta’s side beat Everton 3-2 on Sunday.

The Germany international’s performance in the second 45 minutes atoned for his earlier mistake, with the 27-year-old allowing a tame Richarlison effort to squirm underneath his body for an equaliser before the break.

But his improved display afterwards was a key factor in the victory, and Wright took to social media after the game to pay tribute. Read here
