The latest transfer rumours from Arsenal as Mikel Arteta prepares for his first summer transfer window at the Emirates Stadium.
The final few days of the recent January transfer window proved to be busy at the Emirates Stadium, with Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta getting two deals over the line to bolster his defence.
First, the former Gunners midfielder got a deal done for Flamengo centre-back Pablo Mari, signing the Spaniard on loan, before completing another loan deal, this time for Southampton right-back Cedric Soares.
But with a lot of work to be done on the Gunners’ current squad come the summer, you cannot help but think that Arteta will be hoping to get some permanent signings through the door in that window.
And with the Premier League currently enjoying its first-ever winter break, it could be the perfect time for Arteta to sit down with the Gunners hierarchy and thrash out his plans for the summer.
With that in mind, here is a round-up of the day’s very latest Arsenal transfer news.
Arsenal given Lallana warning
Arsenal have been told to ‘think twice’ about making a possible move for out-of-contract Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana this summer, report the Daily Star.
Lallana is likely to have a whole host of options come the summer, with his Anfield future in doubt.
But Arsenal have been warned about the possibility of making a move for the former Southampton midfielder by former defender Nigel Winterburn.
He told the Metro: “Lallana is a player I like but he has had so many injuries problems.
“When you’re looking to bring players in for the first team or even the squad, you have to be careful.”
Gunners remain in Tsimikas chase
Sport Witness are reporting that Arsenal remain in the hunt to sign Olympiakos defender Konstantinos Tsimikas.
The Greece international, 23, was heavily linked with a move to Serie A club Napoli during January, but no move ever ended up coming to fruition because of Napoli’s failure to move Faouzi Ghoulam.
It is expected that Napoli will reignite their interest in the left-back come the summer, as will Arsenal, who did keep tabs on his development in January.
Gunners lose ground in Koulibaly race
Manchester United are the new favourites to sign Napoli and Senegal centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly in the summer, report Just Arsenal.
The giant defender is considered as one of the best in the world right now and has a long list of clubs looking to take a punt on him, including the Gunners.
But it has been reported that Man Utd are leading the race to land the defender. The Red Devils attempted to lure him to Old Trafford last summer but will try again this year.
