Luis Enrique to Arsenal: Sanllehi ‘contact’, what he has said, likelihood of move

Arsenal news includes a look at the rumours around Luis Enrique replacing Unai Emery at Arsenal.

The pressure mounts on Unai Emery at Arsenal.

Will he still be in charge come the end of the international break?

Arsenal go into the two-week break without a win in their last four games, with defeat to Leicester ensuring they are eight points adrift of the top four.

The only crumb of comfort for Arsenal fans is that north London rivals Tottenham are i a much worse position – in 12th place in the table.

Emery has work to do to get the fans back onside and is in fear of his job, with plenty of talk about who could replace him at the Emirates.

One of those names in the frame is former Barcelona and Spain head coach Luis Enrique.

Raul Sanllehi contact

Arsenal have been eager to deny links with Jose Mourinho already this month.

And they may have to start talking about whether or not they are in talks with Luis Enrique soon, too.

According to El Confidencial , Enrique is a candidate to take over at the Emirates if Emery is sacked.

Furthermore, Spanish journalist Kike Marin has indicated on his official Twitter page that there has been contact between enrique and Arsenal’s head of football Raul Sanllehi.

Marin said that Sanllehi was “looking for a substitute” and that there had been talks with Enrique over being that replacement.

What Enqrique has said about managing in England

Luis Enrique has been linked with a job in England before.

He was once linked with taking over at Reading in 2013 and was asked about that during a Q&A with magazine FourFourTwo .

He said: “”I was cycling in South Africa when I got a call about Reading.

“It was gossip, I never spoke to them. I’d like to manage in England at some point.

“My wife wouldn’t like the weather, she’s from Barcelona and likes the sun. It would depend on the team and the football they played.”

Managerial odds

There are plenty of names in the frame to replace Emery at the Emirates.

Emery is currently the second favourite, behind Southampton’s Ralph Hasenhuttl, to be the first manager to lose his job in the Premier League this season.

And Enrique is the second favourite to replace Emery should he move on.

According to Paddy Power, Enrique is 5/1 to take over from Emery, with only Jose Mourinho ahead of him in the betting.

Return Wenger. He’s by far the best off all.
After all, they were failures and sacked from other clubs.
Why Wenger? An old broom sweeps better than a new one.

An overhaul of team manager is needed as a matter of urgency before we start losing pace in the top 4 race and our prime players. Emery has failed us, he hasn’t found his starting 11 and does not have a philosophy that he works with. Lampard and Rogers have achieved more in less than 4months. We need a change as a matter of urgency before we start fighting for survival.

A total overhaul of a team will make the team lose it football culture, it includes football languages for fluidities. That is why people say we have lost our style because we no longer play like Arsenal. The more we understand this the better for us. This overhaul affected the midfield where Ramsey, Iwobi, Ozil, Carzola etc were missing. It affected the defense where Koschiney, Montreal, Meterserter left. What else do you expect. The goal keeper understanding with defenders will be lost The team is already in disarray. Professionalism or not it take time before the new professionals blend together. Dont forget for 22yrs under Wenger, they played a football style with great understanding playing different formations achieving successes with it. If we are changing Emery let us be certain why. We should know what we want to see in the incoming coach. The board should have a mind of their own, they are not to be push here and there by the supporters. If we listen to the supporters , how many people will they listen to, from all over the world that Arsenal are being supported. So we must be careful.
