Konstantinos Mavropanos played alongside Kieran Tierney and Hector Bellerin last night.

Kieran Tierney and Hector Bellerin made appearances for Arsenal in the Under-23’s 2-2 draw at Wolves on Friday.

Tierney hasn’t kicked a ball for Arsenal following a £25 million summer move from Celtic, while Bellerin has been sidelined since January.

Both of their returns is great news for Gunners’ senior boss Unai Emery, but there was a third, lesser-known boost last night.

Promising centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos also continued his rehabilitation with a 90-minute showing against the West Midlands club.

The towering defender, who stands at 6’4, has had injury problems of his own this season but, by virtue of the fact he lasted 90 minutes, you could argue he is closer than Tierney and Bellerin, who lasted an hour.

Mavropanos has been lukewarm in the little game time that he’s had under Emery.

The 21-year-old joined Arsenal under Arsene Wenger in the final few months of the Frenchman’s tenure but posted some very positive displays, most notably away to Manchester United.

The Gunners could do with all the centre-backs they can get and the closer he is to full fitness, the better for Emery overall.
