How Arsenal Could Line Up With David Luiz, Kieran Tierney And Nicolas Pepe

Arsenal’s desperate need to sign a center back in the eleventh hour of the transfer window has led them to an unlikely source: Chelsea’s David Luiz.

With just over 24 hours remaining until the English transfer deadline passes, shock reports emanating from France claimed that Luiz has refused to train at Chelsea in order to push through a move to Arsenal.

A more credible outlet, Sky Sports, have now confirmed that the Brazilian is indeed on his way to North London.

The 32-year-old was reportedly concerned about the amount of regular football he will be given by Frank Lampard with Kurt Zouma set to feature prominently under the new Chelsea boss.

Unai Emery, meanwhile, is desperate to reinforce his central defensive options following Laurent Koscielny’s move to Bordeaux. Luiz is a proven performer in the Premier League and will need to time to settle down in the Gunners backline

With earlier reports also confirming Kieran Tierney’s imminent move to the club as well, Arsenal fans can expect some key changes in the team’s back line next season.

The fact that Emery currently has four center back options in Rob Holding, Calum Chambers, Sokratis and a certain Shodkran Mustafi; and still opted to go for one more shows just how unconvinced he is in his backline staff.

Arsenal’s forward options look all but solid and the addition of Nicolas Pepe and Dani Ceballos further strengthened the notion.

The Gunners have now turned their focus to defensive recruits and could see two official announcements made within the next 24 hours.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at how Arsenal will line up with David Luiz and Kieran Tierney

On paper, this appears to be a much more decent squad than Arsenal have had in a while. Where do you think we could finish with this team? Top four? Perhaps better?
