The Independent report that Arsenal have recently suggested a £55m deal with £10m add-ons, as well as Reiss Nelson on loan as a temporary replacement for Zaha at the club. However, Crystal Palace have turned this offer down.
Palace do like the idea of taking one of Arsenal’s youth prospects on loan, either Nelson or Saka, but they want more. They’re hoping for an increase in the fee and a player on a permanent deal as well as the loan, with Carl Jenkinson mentioned in the article.
It seems unlikely Arsenal will offer significantly more than the Independent are reporting they’ve already offered. Including Carl Jenkinson probably wouldn’t be a major sticking point, so that could happen, but upping the bid from £55m is a big ask.
Arsenal’s transfer budget is restricted, they’re still struggling to come to an agreement for Kieran Tierney with Celtic also holding out for more money, and spending something like £80m on Zaha would be a big risk anyway.
As well as Zaha played for Palace last season, he wouldn’t be worth significantly more than Arsenal’s record transfer fee to the Gunners. Perhaps he’s worth that much to Palace, but not Arsenal.
